Only in the Japanese version does he say "Sieg Zeon" later changed to "Hail Zeon" for the European and American releases as not to confuse people, since we have a thing called "The "Neo" Nazi Party" and people are stupid. The negative connotations are obvious as you've probably also have witnessed plenty of people in Nazi uniforms "cosplaying" as Zeonic soldiers.
Since Zeon was based on WWII Germany anyway, as clearly seen in MS Igloo, I have no issues with Zeon uniforms drawing inspiration from German uniforms. I choose Sieg Zeon just to hold true to the original anime, original including use of "Sieg" rather than any Japanese translation.
Not trying to be confrontational, just having a (hopefully) civil debate.
look the Original Zeonic uniform, even removing the officers cloak it doesn't look like the 1938 Waffen SS Uniform (which is what I've seen). Customization of the design for personal comfort and wearing style is great and sells the character better, but just don't go off in a completely different direction adding Nazi trinkets because the uniform is not based on that design.
The Principality of Zeon culture is only likened to Germany by their combat tactics and industrious nature, also if you are familiar with the origins of The Republic of Zeon the start of the Colony Wars was loosely based off the beginning of WWI with the founder's death(assinated by the Zabis) Char Aznable's father Zeon Zum Deikun.
